September is a big month in Israel; you can enjoy some festivity during Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year), Yom Kippur and Sukkoth. If you plan to use public transportation, please note that there will be changes during the holidays (Sep 13th – 15th; 22nd-23rd; Sep 27th – Oct 4th). We gathered a few of the main events in the upcoming month:
Tel Aviv September 30th – Kenye West (Ramat Gan Stadium) One of the most influential and controversial artists of recent years is going to have one show in Tel Aviv. Gold Digger, Jesus Walks, Good Life and Stronger are just a few of his mega hits. Kenye's fans can expect an event of once in a lifetime as the West is known for his larger than life persona and shows. September 14th – Unidance Festival Electro-music lovers cannot wait for the one-day event taking place at Hayarkon Park TLV. The massive party will get on the way in the afternoon and includes sets by well-known DJs such as Afrojack, D-Wayne and Apster.
Jerusalem September 3rd – 12th – The Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival The annual classical music festival is a must-hear for classical music enthusiasts. The audience will enjoy concerts dedicated to the works of famous composers such as Beethoven and Dvorak as well as world premiers of upcoming new artists. Throughout September - A Brief History of Humankind from the Collections of The Israel Museum The ambitions exhibition is inspired by the bestselling book A Brief History of Humankind and aims to present momentous events in human history over some 800,000 years. It is a very popular exhibition and we advise not to visit it on weekends or holidays.
Eilat September 29th – October 1st – Timna Live The lively festival is held at Timna Park (approx. 25 km north of Eilat) during Sukkoth. On stage, the audience can enjoy live shows by Israeli and international artists such as Boom Pam Hosting Maor Cohen and Farafina (Burkina Faso) and A-Wa. Goers can also enjoy master-classes, open sessions and activities for children (activities for all the family are mostly in Hebrew). September 17th- 19th Israeli Weekend A Weekend of live shows with some of the most popular artists in Israel: Avraham Tal hosts Kobi Aflalo and Mosh Ben Ari Hosts Dudu Tassa.
The Dead Sea Sep 28th – Oct 2nd – Tamar Festival The popular festival hosts some of the best and most popular acts in Israel at the moment including: Asaf Avidan, Idan Raichel Project, Ehud Banai and Muki. The main shows are held at Masada, free entry concerts take place at Ein Gedi and Kikar Sdom.
Haifa September 3rd - Israel-Andorra (Football, Soccer for our American Friends) Israel will host a match against Andorra as part of UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers. Israel is the strong favorite and must win this game in order to keep its Euro 2016 hopes alive. Sep 26th – Oct 4th – Haifa International Film Festival Join some 300,000 visitors that will attend the 31st Haifa International Film Festival which takes place in various film theaters around the city. You can expect fantastic Israeli and international new features including many documentaries from all around the world. Most films are screened with English subtitles.
